Save The Gouldian Finch

If we don’t take action today to protect their habitat we may lose endangered species like the Gouldian Finch forever.

These beautiful little birds were once found in hundreds of thousands across northern Australia. Today there are only an estimated 2,400 left in the wild.

Their striking plumage makes them an attractive pet and, before a ban was put into place in the 1980s, they were trapped and sold without a thought given to their future in the wild.

Despite the ban, they remain endangered today, as their habitat is lost to introduced herbivores and changes in fire patterns.
