These beautiful little birds were once found in hundreds of thousands across northern Australia. Today there are only an estimated 2,400 left in the wild.
Their striking plumage makes them an attractive pet and, before a ban was put into place in the 1980s, they were trapped and sold without a thought given to their future in the wild.
Despite the ban, they remain endangered today, as their habitat is lost to introduced herbivores and changes in fire patterns.
By making a donation today you can help to protect the habitat vital to the survival of this spectacular bird and other threatened Australian species.
